Authorities dismantle central Fla. drug operations
LAKELAND, Fla.—Authorities say they have dismantled two Florida-based marijuana-trafficking operations that had ties to California and Mexico.
The Ledger in Lakeland reported that the multi-jurisdictional investigation led to the arrests of more than two dozen people and more are being sought.
Authorities seized 600 pounds of marijuana, $240,000 in cash, a half-kilogram of cocaine and 17 firearms. Officials said they were in the process of also seizing 27 vehicles.
The operations are believed to have been distributing as much as $750,000 worth of marijuana weekly.
The investigation began in September when detectives learned that a Seminole County man was distributing high-grade marijuana smuggled from California to University of Central Florida students.
