Pot Shaped Candy Advocates Pot Legalization to Our Nation’s Youth

A recent Fox News report highlighted the pro-drug agenda that promotes marijuana use and legalization by targeting our nation’s youth through pot shaped candy. One Buffalo, New York City Councilmember is pushing back.

“Pothead Ring Pots” and “Pothead Lollipops” distributed by a company out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania sell for $1.00 to $1.50. The product depicts marijuana leaves and a caricature of someone smoking pot along with the word “legalize.” Clearly these candy products are designed to target our nation’s youth and promote the false perception that marijuana is “harmless.”

As these products began showing up in stores across Buffalo, concerned councilmember Darius Pridgen took action. After hearing from concerned parents, Councilmember Pridgen displayed the candy along with synthetic marijuana known as “K2” and stated he would “refuse to grant licenses to stores in his district that planned to sell the merchandise.” It appears some retailers are taking Councilman Pridgen seriously; in many stores, pot candy is no longer on the shelves.

We applaud Councilman Pridgen in his efforts to stop those who wish to promote drug use to Buffalo’s youth. As Jodie Altman, program supervisor at Renaissance House, stated- “It’s the whole idea that it promotes drugs and the idea that, here, you’ll look cool if you use this, which is what gets kids in trouble in the first place.” Again, we could not agree more.
